Gold Leaf Covering to Luang Poo Thong Ceremony at Wat Lat Bua Khao - Luang Poo is a Thai title of honor to precede the name of a revered senior monk and wat is Thai for a temple

Description:
Wat Lat Bua Khao is the ancient temple of the Buddhists in Saphan Sung District. The temple was built by the two brothers, Phra Rajayotha (also known as Niam Singhaseni), and Phraya Suren Rajasena. It was constructed in 1872. The first abbot was Luang Poo Thong, who is very well-known for his meditation practice.








The annual temple festival is the Gold Leaf Covering to Luang Poo Thong Ceremony during the Chinese New Year. (Approximately in January) There are various activities in the festival, such as the Thai-styled antiphon singing and the folk play.






The main schedule of the activities in the festival are: ‘Tam-boon Tuk-baat’, a ritual where one makes offerings at a temple to increase ones merit in the morning. In the afternoon there is the gold covering to the Buddha figure ceremony. There are some handmade product shops of the community selling in the festival area.
