Angklung Ensemble of the Saengthong Community

Description:
Angklung is a traditional Thai musical instrument made of three bamboo tubes attached to a bamboo frame whose origin is from Indonesia. Angklung Ensemble of the Saengthong Community established in 2008 by Mr. Chamat Urusanon, a well respected music teacher in his mid 80’s. Mr. Chamat Urusanon has been teaching the art of singing and playing the Angklung for over two years. Also, according to Thai tradition the lessons are free of charge.










The ensemble consists of twelve members. They practice almost every evening at the community’s activity center, which was donated by the crown princess or Somdet Phra Theprat Ratsuda Sayam Borommaratchakumari. It is open to visitors or anyone who wants to learn.
